Born in London, Ontario, cellist Marianna Grigg made her solo debut at age 16 with the London Community Orchestra. She was selected as a member of the prestigious National Youth Orchestra of Canada, and performed in their 2017 Edges of Canada
tour, and their 2018 Migrations Tour. Marianna has appeared as principal cellist with the
London Youth Symphony, the Western Symphony Orchestra, the London Community
Orchestra, the Windsor Symphony, the McGill Symphony Orchestra, and the National
Youth Orchestra. With NYOC, she has performed in many venues across Canada,
including La Maison Symphonique, Koerner Hall, the National Arts Centre, and
internationally at the Young Euro Classic in Berlin, and the Edinburgh International
Festival. Marianna recently performed at The Queen’s Ball: A Bridgerton Experience in
Toronto.
Marianna graduated with an undergraduate degree in Music Performance from Western University under the direction of Thomas Wiebe. She was on the Dean’s Honour List and awarded with the University of Western Ontario Gold Medal. In 2021 she completed a master’s degree at McGill University’s Schulich School of Music with Brian Manker. This season she can be heard at The Grand Theatre and at London’s Candlelight Concerts.
